Electronic Documents refer to any type of document that is created, stored and transmitted in digital form. These can include text files, spreadsheets, presentations, images or videos among others. Electronic documents are usually created using computer software such as word processors, presentation tools, image editors or video editing programs. They offer several advantages over traditional paper-based documents including ease of creation and distribution, ability to be easily searched and retrieved, reduced storage costs, and the ability to be edited and shared more easily among users. Electronic Documents can also include scanned copies of physical documents that have been converted into digital format using optical character recognition (OCR) software.
